Objectives
Establishing a reliable technological infrastructure in the face of rapid and ongoing changes is a core challenge, especially for the North East India. The Seminar will highlight the impact, perspective and issues of Digitization and Networking of LICs in NE India for their preservation and global accessibility.
Submission of papers
The Organizing Committee request Professionals and other Academicians for contributing papers covering any one of the sub-themes. Both invited and contributed papers will be considered. Full paper with abstract in both printed form (A4 size paper with 12 font size in Times Roman) and in CD (MS-Word) versions are to be submitted. Paper may also be sent to any of the following email addresses: dlisgu@gmail.com, nlahkar@gmail.com

Participation
LIS Professionals, Academicians, and LIS Students can participate
Registration
Filled in registration form should reach the Department on or before January 2, 2009. Registration fee of Rs 100/ will be charged from the LIS students and Rs 200/- for others. Student participants are not entitled for Seminar Kits. Those who need accommodation will be required to pay an advance of Rs 500/-. The organizing committee will provide accommodation to the participants who make advance payment only.
Date & Venue
The seminar will be held during 9-10 January, 2009 at the, Gauhati University, Guwahati-781014, Assam
Transport
The Gauhati University is well connected through Air, Rail and Roadways. The Guwahati Railway Station and Airport are about 12 KM and 11 KM away from GU Campus respectively. Auto rickshaws, taxis and City Bus services are available.
Climate
Participants are advised to bring sufficient woolen clothes as during January the weather will be cold (The temperature will be around 100 C)
